Rose Leads Men's Swimming & Diving in Setback to Brandeis

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Freshman Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) won two individual events to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team against Brandeis University on Friday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (3-8) fell to the visiting Judges (1-8-1) in the team scoring by a margin of 130-82.

Rose captured top honors in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.16. He also placed first in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 56.22 seconds.

Junior Brian Sheehan (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 202.95 points. Sheehan also finished second on the three-meter board with 197.35 points.

Rose, senior Eric Ford (Oakville, Conn.), junior Kyle Medeiros (Lakeville, Mass.) and sophomore Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) placed second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.64.

Freshman Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) added a second place showing in the 100 butterfly (1:01.31), while the Bears' relay team of Medina, fellow sophomore Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and seniors John Basile (Scituate, Mass.) and Matt O'Brien (Whitman, Mass.) finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.73).

The Bears return to the pool on Sunday at noon when they entertain the Owls of Keene State College.
