Swimming & Diving Teams Compete at WPI Tri-Meet

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming & diving teams competed at a tri-meet hosted by WPI on Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, the Bears dropped a 240-40 decision to the host Engineers and lost to Roger Williams University by a margin of 240-47.

The BSU men's squad fell to WPI by a score of 185-92, and suffered a 205-80 setback against Roger Williams.

Freshman Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) was the top performer for the Bears. Rose posted a season-best time of 2:03.38 in the 200 backstroke to place fourth in the event. Rose and sophomores Hunter Goodrich (Stoughton, Mass.), Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) and Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.) earned first place points in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.15.

Sophomore Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) had the highest placing on the women's side. Grant finished sixth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.93.

The BSU swimming & diving teams are off until January 21st when they entertain the Beavers of Babson College at 6:00 PM.
