Men's Swimming & Diving Posts 150-99 Win Over Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team captured ten of 14 events as the Bears posted a 150-99 dual meet victory over host Elms College on Wednesday evening at the Partyka Natatorium.

The Bears improve to 3-4 on the season in dual meet competition, while the Blazers fall to 3-2.

Senior Eric Ford (Oakville, Conn.) and sophomore Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) each won two individual events and swam a leg on the Bears' winning 200 medley relay squad (1:57.35) along with sophomore Hunter Goodrich (Stoughton, Mass.) and freshman Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.).

Ford grabbed top honors in the 50 breaststroke (33.99) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.88), while Medina was the first to touch the wall in the 50 backstroke (31.07) and the 50 freestyle (26.96).

Goodrich added an individual victory in the 100 butterfly (1:07.73). Rose also placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:03.87) and swam a leg on BSU's winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:45.97) along with sophomores Charles Anderson (Avon, Conn.), Andrew Hebert (Lincoln, R.I.) and Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.).

Anderson checked in with an individual victory in the 50 butterfly (29.23), while freshman Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) rounded out the Bears' event winners with the top performance in the 100 individual medley (1:10.84).

The Bears will be back in the pool on Saturday afternoon when they travel to WPI for a two o'clock tri-meet with the host Engineers and the Hawks of Roger Williams University.
