Men's Swimming & Diving Edges UMass Dartmouth, 116-109

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team posted a 116-109 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (1-2) captured eight individual events en route to the win.

Junior Brian Sheehan (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) and freshmen Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, NY) and Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) each won two events. Sheehan captured both diving events with scores of 173.05 points on the one-meter board and 159.20 points on the three-meter. McDougall placed first in the 100 butterfly (58.17) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.28), while Rose grabbed top honors in the 200 freestyle (1:52.34) and the 500 freestyle (5:08.33).

Sophomore Andrew Hebert (Lincoln, R.I.) was the first to touch the wall in the 200 individual medley (2:17.73), while classmate Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' event winners with the top performance in the 100 backstroke (1:01.42).

In upcoming action, the BSU swimming and diving teams will compete at the Louise Goodrum Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at noon.
