Men's Swimming & Diving Posts 149-96 Win over Regis

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming and diving team won seven of 16 events and took advantage of a deeper roster as the Bears posted a 149-96 victory over visiting Regis College on Saturday afternoon at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

Bridgewater evens its dual meet record at 1-1, while Regis slips to 1-2.

Junior David Elofson and senior Erick DalMolin won multiple individual events for the Bears.  Elofson captured first place on both diving boards posting a score of 176.80 points on the one-meter board and 174.30 points on the three-meter.  DalMolin touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.00) and 200 individual medley (2:24.06).

Elofson qualified for the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on both boards.

Also winning events for the hosts were junior Phil Anderson in the 50 breaststroke (33.19) and senior Charles MacDonald in the 100 backstroke (1:06.93).

The Bears' foursome of DalMolin, classmate Andrew Green and juniors John Holmes and Sean Bruno closed out the meet with a first place time of 1:39.52 in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Bears return to the pool on Tuesday when they host UMass Dartmouth in a dual meet starting at six.
