Swimming & Diving Teams Compete at Babson

BABSON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams competed at Babson College on Thursday evening at Babson's Elizabeth Morse Swimming Center.

The BSU women's team dropped a 158-122 decision to slip 6-7 in dual meet action, while the men's swimmers suffered a 145-127 setback to fall to 2-10 on the season.

On the women's side, junior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) captured top honors in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:20.32, while senior Bridget Hasson (Milton, Mass.) posted a career-best time of 5:56.62 in the 500 freestyle to finish second in the event.

Junior Nelia Borden (Westport, Mass.) added a second place finish in the 100 freestyle (59.68), while sophomore Kendra Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) placed third in the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 2:27.24.

Senior diver Luis Silva (Gloucester, Mass.) paced the men's team as he placed first on the one-meter board with a score of 177.20 points.  Sophomore David Elofson (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a score of 165.85 points on the three-meter plank to finish second.  Elofson was just 5/100 of a point off the top score of 165.90 points.

In upcoming action, the Bridgewater hosts WPI on Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 PM in the Bears' final home meet of the season.
