Swimming & Diving Teams Fall to Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet against Division II Bentley University on Tuesday evening in Waltham. The women's team dropped a 157-119 decision to the host Falcons, while the men's squad suffered a 145-128 setback.

The Bentley women improve their dual meet record to 9-1 on the season while the men's squad moves to 7-3. The BSU women's team slips to 6-6 overall and the men's squad falls to 2-7.

On the men's side, junior Andrew Green (Middleboro, Mass.) finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.66 seconds, while classmate Erick DalMolin (Springfield, Mass.) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.67) to pace the BSU men's swimmers. Sophomore diver David Elofson(Mansfield, Mass.) finished among the top two scorers on both the one-meter (156.83 pts) and three meter (141.37 pts) boards.

Junior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) paced the BSU women's team with a victory in the 500 freestyle as she posted a time 5:37.81. The women's 200 medley relay team of junior Nelia Borden (Westport, Mass.) and sophomores Taylor Brochu (Cotuit, Mass.), Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) and Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) finished first in the event with a time of 1:51.56.  Brochu added a second place showing in the 100 individual medley (1:09.06).

Freshman diver Tiffany Easter (Easton, Mass.) placed fifth on the one-meter board with a season-best score of 175.36 points.  Easter also posted the fifth best score on the three-meter plank with 169.94 points.

Both the BSU men's and women's teams are back in the pool on Thursday evening as they travel to Babson College to take on the Beavers at six.
