Swimming & Diving Teams Edged by UMass Dartmouth

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams traveled to UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening to take on the Corsairs in a dual meet at the Tripp Athletic Center.  The BSU women's team dropped a close 124-110 decision while the men's squad was edged out by a score of 118-108.

Sophomore Taylor Brochu (Cotuit, Mass.) paced the women's team with a victory in the 50 freestyle as she posted a time of 27.11 seconds.  Brochu also swam a leg on the Bears' winning 400 freestyle relay (4:01.72) along with classmates Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) and Kendra Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and junior Nelia Borden (Westport, Mass.).

Junior Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) grabbed top honors in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:27.59, while freshman diver Tiffany Easter (Easton, Mass.) placed first on the three-meter board with a score of 156.00 points.

On the men's side, the 400 freestyle relay team of juniors Gerard Ferdinand (Stoneham, Mass.) and Erick DalMolin (Springfield, Mass.), senior Sullivan Cohen (Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore Todd Avery (Brewster, Mass.) posted a time of 3:42.99 to place first in the event.

In upcoming action, the BSU swimming and diving teams head back to the Tripp Athletic Center on Saturday to take part in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
