Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to WPI, 172-111

WORCESTER, Mass. -- WPI posted the best time in every event as the Engineers defeated the Bears of Bridgewater State University, 172-111, in men's swimming and diving action on Saturday afternoon at the Clark University campus.

WPI completes dual meet play with a 3-8 record, while Bridgewater finishes at 1-9.

Andrew Lybarger (Decatur, GA) racked up four individual victories for the host Engineers, winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.11), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.36), the 50-yard breaststroke (29.81) and the 100-yard butterfly (:53.41).  

Lybarger was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team, finishing with a time of 1:50.73.

Philip Tully (Cedar Grove, N.J.) paced the visiting Bears as he posted the second best times in a pair of individual events as well as one relay.  Tully recorded a time of 1:06.89 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:23.68 in the 200 breaststroke.  He also swam a leg on BSU's 200 freestyle relay (1:39.00).

After a two week break, the Engineers will travel to the NEWMAC conference championships, Friday, February 17th through Sunday, February 19th. Bridgewater State will participate in the NEISDA Division II/III Swimming Championships that same weekend.
