Tully Leads Men's Swimming & Diving Past Gordon

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming and diving team earned their first dual meet victory of the season as the Bears downed visiting Gordon College, 147-90, on Tuesday evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

The win improves the Bears' dual meet record to 1-5 on the season while Gordon slips to 0-6 overall.

Senior Philip Tully (Cedar Grove, N.J.) paced the hosts with three individual wins.  Tully grabbed first place in the 50 breaststroke (29.15), 100 breaststroke (1:04.81) and 100 individual medley (1:01.50).

The Bears' 200 freestyle relay team of junior Sullivan Cohen (Bridgewater, Mass.), sophomores Gerard Ferdinand (Stoneham, Mass.) and Matt O'Brien (Whitman, Mass.), and freshman Sean Bruno (Easton, Mass.) won the event with a season-best time of 1:38.97.

Cohen, Ferdinand, O'Brien and Bruno also added individual victories in the 100 butterfly (1:04.58), 100 backstroke (1:04.67), 100 freestyle (55.47) and 50 freestyle (25.26), respectively.

The Bears are off until after the semester break when they travel to Elms College on January 11th.
