Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to UMass Dartmouth, 134-86

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team captured first place in ten of 13 events as the Corsairs downed host Bridgewater State University, 134-86, on Tuesday evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

Sophomores Christian Francia (Hampton, N.H.), Eric Frohman (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Matthew Lee (Chelmsford, Mass.) each captured a pair of individual events to pace the Corsairs.  Francia was the top diver on both boards registering scores of 278.00 points on the one-meter and 298.30 on the three-meter.  Frohman placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:01.53) and 100 butterfly (1:00.03), while Lee swam to victories in the 200 individual medley (2:17.29) and 100 backstroke (1:02.68).

Bridgewater captured the top spot in both relay events.  Senior Philip Tully (Cedar Grove, N.J.), junior Sullivan Cohen (Bridgewater, Mass.), sophomore Matt O'Brien (Whitman, Mass.) and freshman Sean Bruno (Easton, Mass.) recorded a time of 1:54.40 in the 200 medley relay, while O'Brien, Bruno, sophomore Erick DalMolin (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Brandon Morrison (Norwell, Mass.) posted a time of 3:53.00 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Tully added a first place showing in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.25).

The Corsairs improve to 1-2 in dual meet competition, while the Bears slip to 0-4 on the season. 

Both schools will be competing in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday which gets underway at noon.
