NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2011-2012 season with a 162-74 loss to host Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Gerard Ferdinand (Stoneham, Mass.) paced the visiting Bears with second place finishes in three individual events and one relay.

Ferdinand posted times of 2:06.59 in the 200 freestyle, 55.09 seconds in the 100 freestyle and 5:56.18 in the 500 freestyle.  He also swam a leg on the 200 medley relay team which touched the wall in 1:57.88.

Bridgewater will host Regis College on Friday night at 6:00 PM.
