Men's Swim Team in 12th Place at NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swim team is in 12th place in a 13-team field after the first day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont.

The Bears tallied 28 points during the first day of events. Keene State College is in first place with 428 points followed by Bentley University with 287.

Two relay teams and one individual event swimmer were in Friday evening's finals.

The 200 freestyle relay team of freshmen Erick DalMolin (Springfield, MA), Gerard Ferdinand (Stoneham, MA) and Matt O'Brien (Whitman, MA) and junior Luis Silva (Gloucester, MA) placed 11th in the event with a time of 1:36.27.  The 400 medley relay team consisting of Ferdinand, Silva, freshman Reggie O'Connor (Lakeville, MA) and sophomore Jay Schotter (Lincoln, RI) finished in 11th place with a time of 4:00.96.

O'Connor also posted a 13th place time in the 200 backstroke (2:12.73).

The championship meet will continue Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
