Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to WPI, 153-109

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --The WPI men's swimming and diving team posted a 153-109 victory over host Bridgewater State University on Senior Day at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

Bridgewater ends the dual meet portion of the season with a record of 2-7, while WPI finishes at 6-2.

Senior Mason Ruffing (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and junior Andrew Lybarger (Decatur, Ga.) paced the visiting Engineers with two individual wins apiece.  Ruffing placed first in the 200 backstroke (2:02.90) and the 50 freestyle (:23.26), while Lybarger won both the 200 butterfly (1:58.74) and 200 breaststroke (1:09.40).

Ruffing also swam a leg on WPI's winning 400 medley relay squad along with classmates Nick Catano (Goffstown, N.H.), Lee Chiang (Lexington, Mass.) and Alford Green (Portmore, Jamaica).

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored senior diver Trevor Tompkins (Florence, Mass.) who is in his final season at BSU. 

Bridgewater will compete in the NEISDA Division II/III Swimming Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont on February 18, 19 and 20.  WPI will compete in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at MIT on February 25, 26 and 27.
