Swimming & Diving Teams Fall to Clark University

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Clark University swept a collegiate men's and women's swimming and diving meet against host Bridgewater State College this evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.  

The Clark men's team posted a convincing 153-53 victory, while the women's team also eased to a 136-74 triumph.  

Freshmen Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) and Rhiannon White (Falmouth, MA) were the lone event winners for host Bridgewater State.  Phinney won both the 200 freestyle (2:02.82) and 100 freestyle (:56.72) events, while White placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:04.79).  

Although competing as an exhibition, the Bears' 400 freestyle relay squad registered a first place time of 4:00.53.  Phinney, senior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN), junior Kristen Slagmolen (Woburn, MA) and sophomore Katie McLean (Dracut, MA) each swam a leg on the relay.    

Junior Matt Brown (Burlington, MA) paced the BSC men's team with a pair of third place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:21.08) and the 100 backstroke (1:06.71).
