BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet with Bridgewater State College this evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

On the women's side, host Bridgewater State won eight of the 12 events but were done in by the Corsairs' depth.  UMass had only four first place finishes, but placed second ten times to go along with six third place showings.

Senior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) and freshman Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) paced the Bears with three wins apiece.  Morwick placed first in the 1,000 freestyle (11:39.13) and 100 butterfly (1:03.91), while Phinney posted victories in the 200 freestyle (2:04.79) and 500 freestyle (5:36.22) events.  They both also swam a leg on the winning 400 medley relay team (4:22.97).

The UMass men's team jumped out to a 44-8 lead after just three events and never looked back.  The Corsairs won nine of 13 events to go along with 11 second place and six third place finishes.

Freshman Jake Pesante (Wakefield, MA) led the way for UMass.  Pesante won both the 200 freestyle (1:53.22) and 500 freestyle (5:15.59) events, and swam a leg on the Corsairs' first place 400 freestyle relay squad (3:15.40).

Junior Ken Berardi (Hanover, MA) posted a pair of victories for the Bears in the 50 freestyle (:24.56) and 100 freestyle (:53.35) events.
