Swim Teams Sweep Dual Meet with Regis College

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet with Regis College this evening at the Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.  

The BSC women's team (1-1) posted a 155-66 victory, while the men's team (1-0) won by a margin of 151-92.  

On the men's side, six different swimmers posted first place finishes for the host Bears, while freshman Jake Wilde (Holden, MA) won both the one-meter (112.95 pts) and three-meter (118.45 pts) diving events.  

Senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) and juniors Ken Berardi (Hanover, MA), Matt Brown (Burlington, MA) and Kelan O'Connell (Taunton, MA) teamed up for a first place showing in the 200 freestyle relay as they posted a winning time of 1:38.28.  All four also won individual events.  Herman in the 100 backstroke (1:00.20), Berardi in the 200 freestyle (2:01.21), Brown in the 100 individual medley (1:03.93) and O'Connell in the 50 freestyle (:25.13).

On the women's side, senior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) won three individual events and one relay.  Freshman Lauren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) posted two individual victories as well as two relays, while freshman Bridget Hasson (Milton, MA) won two individual events and one relay.  

Morwich was the top finisher in the 1,000 freestyle (11:34.55), 50 freestyle (:26.85), and 100 individual medley (1:06.86).  Phinney placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:07.00) and 500 freestyle (5:28.46), while Hasson won both the 50 breaststroke (:36.71) and 50 butterfly (:29.80) events.  

Morwick, Phinney, Hasson and freshman Rhiannon White (Falmouth, MA) each swam a leg on the Bears' 200 medley relay team which posted a winning time of 2:03.96.  Phinney also anchored BSC's 200 freestyle relay team which posted a time of 1:53.29.
