Men's Swim Team in 8th Place at NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State College men's swim team is in eighth place in a 12-team field after the first day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont.

The Bears tallied 33 points during the first day of events. Keene State is in first place with 238 points followed by Bentley University with 194.

Two relay teams and three individual event swimmers were in Friday evening's finals.

The 200 freestyle relay team of senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) and juniors Mike Crocker (Hanover, MA), Ken Berardi (Hanover, MA) and Kelan O'Connell (Taunton, MA) was eighth in the event with a time of 1:32.79.  The 400 medley relay team consisting of Herman, Crocker, senior Brendan Sullivan (Holyoke, MA) and junior Matt Brown (Burlington, MA) finished in ninth place with a time of 3:55.58.

Herman posted an eighth place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:05.30), while Crocker was 12th in the 50 freestyle (:23.74).  Sullivan placed ninth in the 200 individual medley (2:12.24).

The championship meet will continue Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
