Swim Teams Swept in Dual Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Babson College swept a men's and women's swimming and diving dual meet versus host Bridgewater State College this evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.  

The Babson women posted a 116-87 victory, while the Babson men's squad swam to a 134-69 triumph.   

Senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) led the Bridgewater men's team with a victory in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.22.

Sophomore Matt Turkot (Barrington, IL) posted a pair of wins in the 100 freestyle (:52.44) and 200 freestyle (1:57.61) for Babson. 

On the women's side, BSC junior Renee Marcos (Lakeville, MA) won both diving events as she posted scores of 198.10 points on the one-meter board and 201.95 points on the three-meter.  Also for the Bears, freshman Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) grabbed first place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:19.15.

Sophomores Brittany Bishop (Little Neck, NY) and Mallory Mosk (San Clemente, CA) paced the visiting Beavers with two individual wins apiece.  Bishop placed first in the 100 freestyle (:57.17) and 50 freestyle (:26.09), while Mosk won the 100 butterfly (2:22.86) and 200 individual medley (2:25.54) events.

Prior to the meet, four BSC swimmers were honored on Senior Night as they were competing in the final home meet of their careers.  Along with Herman, Ben Mattson (Taunton, MA), Josh Sturges (Corpus Christi, TX) and Brendan Sullivan (Holyoke, MA) were all honored.
