BSC Swimming Swept by Bentley in Men's & Women's Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bentley University swept a swimming and diving dual meet versus Bridgewater State College this evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.  The Bentley women posted a 173-94 victory while the men's squad won by a margin of 166-106.  

On the men's side, Bentley had the top showing in each of the first nine events as the Falcons breezed to the victory.  Bentley, which exhibitioned the final four events, had nine different individual champions as they improved to 8-3 in dual meets.  

Senior Willie Connolly (Washington, CT) grabbed a pair of the first place finishes in the 50 freestyle (:23.65) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.32).  He also swam the opening leg in the Falcons' winning 200 medley relay team (1:45.37)  

Bridgewater senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) was the lone champion for the Bears as he took home top honors in the 100 backstroke with a time of :59.45.  The BSC men's team (2-5) was in competition for the first time in seven weeks.

Freshman Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, ME) paced the Bentley women's team with three individual top finishes as the Falcons improved to 9-3 in dual meet competition on the season.  Hodsdon touched the wall first in the 50 breaststroke (31.25), 100 freestyle (56.87) and 100 individual medley (1:03.06 ).  She also swam a leg on Bentley's winning 200 medley relay squad (1:56.05).  

Freshman Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) paced the BSC women's team as she placed first in both the 200 freestyle (2:01.73) and 100 backstroke (1:04.67) events.  The Bears fall to 3-8 on the season.
