Swim Teams Split Dual Meet with Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College men's and women's swim teams split a dual meet with host Gordon College on Tuesday night in Wenham, Mass.  The BSC women posted a 145-114 victory, while the men dropped a close 123-114 decision.

The women's team placed first in seven events and also had ten second place finishes.  Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) paced the Bears with three individual wins.  Morwick took home top honors in the 50 freestyle (:26.74), 200 individual medley (2:21.23) and the 50 butterfly (:29.73).

Sophomore Lindsey Hatton (Westfield, MA) added a pair of victories in the 500 freestyle (6:13.13) and the 1,000 freestyle (12:45.88) events.

On the men's side, junior co-captain Brendan Sullivan (Holyoke, MA) won a pair of individual events and swam on the Bears' first place 200 medley relay squad (1:56.60) along with senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH), sophomore Matt Brown (Burlington, MA) and fellow senior co-captain Josh Sturges (Corpus Christi, TX).  Sullivan placed first in both the 50 backstroke (:30.73) and 100 backstroke (1:07.20) events.

Junior Stephen Diver (Brockton, MA) chipped in with victories in both the 500 freestyle (5:41.30) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:43.27) events.

The BSC swimming and diving teams are now off until next semester.  The women's team (4-2) will be back in the pool on Saturday, January 17th as the Bears host Plymouth State University.  The men's team (1-4) does not compete again until Wednesday, January 21st as they travel to Keene State College for a men's and women's meet versus the Owls.
