Swim Teams Sweep Dual Meet with Regis

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2008-2009 season in convincing fashion against Regis College.  The women's team won by a margin of 158-74, while the men completed the sweep with a 120-82 victory.

Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) paced the women's team with four wins as she placed first in the 1000 freestyle (12:06.66), 100 butterfly (1:08.28) and 50 butterfly (30:15), while also swimming on the winning 200 medley relay squad (2:07.41).

Senior Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) was the top men's swimmer as he posted four first place showings as well.  Herman finished first in the 50 backstroke (27.83) and 100 backstroke (59.30), while also swimming on the winning 200 medley relay (1:54.10) and 200 freestyle relay (1:47.27) teams.

Sophomore diver Glenn Bergquist (Needham, MA) set the Bears' one-meter men's record for an 11-dive event as he posted a score of 419.30.  Bergquist broke Andy Fuccillo's former mark of 414.50 set back in 2002.

The Bears have an Alumni Meet on Saturday, November 1st starting at 2 PM.
