Bergquist Leads Swim Teams Against Bentley, Wheaton

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Sophomore Glenn Bergquist (Needham, MA) placed first in both diving events to lead the Bridgewater State College swimming and diving teams in a tri-meet with Bentley College and Wheaton College on Tuesday night.

The BSC women's team (5-6) dropped a 217-78 decision to host Bentley as well as a 222-75 decision to Wheaton.  The men's squad (1-7) also came up short, falling to Bentley, 231-58, and to Wheaton, 212-67.

Bergquist posted a score of 253.30 on the one-meter board, and tallied 234.65 points on the three-meter.

Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) paced the women's team with a pair of second place finishes in the 1,000 freestyle (11:21.85) and 500 freestyle (5:40.37) events.

Seniors Erica Robinson (Lynn, MA) and Sam Herman (Londonderry, NH) were the only other BSC competitors to place in the top three for an event. Robinson finished third in the 50 backstroke (:31.19), while Herman also recorded a third-place showing as he posted a time of 2:07.53 in the 200 backstroke.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday night as they travel to Babson College for a 6 PM meet with the Beavers.
