Three Bears Named to All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Three Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been voted to the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Team by the league's head coaches.

Junior forward Filipe Gomes (Fogo, Cape Verde), junior midfielder Kane Moran (Perth, Australia) and sophomore goalkeeper Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) each garnered All-MASCAC Second Team honors.

Gomes and Moran are both making their second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Team, while Morgado is a first time honoree.

A native of Fogo Cape Verde, Gomes tallied seven goals and five assists for 19 points in 18 games this season. He is tied for fourth among the MASCAC leaders in both assists and game-winning goals (3), and is tied for sixth in goals and scoring.

In 48 games over his first three seasons with the Bears, Gomes has amassed 22 goals and 13 assists for 57 points. He is tied for eighth among the Bears' all-time leaders in goals and tied for ninth in scoring.

Moran, who hails from Perth, Australia, recorded a goal and three assists for five points in 18 games this season from his center-midfield position.

In 58 games over his first three campaigns at Bridgewater State, Moran has produced nine goals and six assists for 24 points. Five of his nine career goals have been game-winners.

Morgado started 18 games this season between the pipes and posted a 1.39 goals against average with 78 saves and a .750 save percentage in 1,686 minutes (1686:04) of work. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts product also picked up six wins and registered five shutouts.

Morgado leads the MASCAC in games played, minutes played and solo shutouts. He is also tied for second in wins and ranks third in both goals against average and saves.

In 28 games over his first two seasons with the Bears, Morgado has a career 1.61 goals against average with 145 saves, ten wins and seven shutouts.

The BSU men's soccer team wrapped up the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 6-10-3. Seeded fifth in the MASCAC Tournament with a 3-3-1 conference mark, the Bears dropped a 1-0 decision to #4 Framingham State University in the tournament quarterfinal round.
