BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Filipe Gomes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Gomes tallied three goals and an assist for seven points in a perfect 2-0 week. The Fogo, Cape Verde product scored a goal in the Bears' 2-0 season-opening victory at Salve Regina University. He also netted a pair of goals and added an assist in a 4-1 road victory over Plymouth State University.

In 18 games over his first two seasons with the Bears, Gomes has amassed 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points.

The Bears open up a four-game homestand on Wednesday night when they entertain the Anchormen of Rhode Island College at seven.
