Former Bear Dan Roberts Named Head Men's Soccer Coach at Emmanuel College

BOSTON, Mass. – Former Bridgewater State University men’s soccer standout Dan Roberts has been named as the head men’s soccer coach at Emmanuel College. Roberts becomes just the third head coach in the program’s 14-year history.

Roberts brings to Emmanuel a wealth of Division III experience as both a coach and a former student-athlete.  Most recently, Roberts was the assistant men’s soccer coach at UMass Boston, where he helped lead the Beacons to a Little East Conference Championship and to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2015.  Prior to the 2015 season at UMass, Roberts was the assistant coach at Wentworth for two years.

“I'm extremely excited to join Emmanuel College as the head men's soccer coach,” said Roberts. “The Saints program has so much potential for success and I'm looking forward to being a part of it."

As a collegiate player, Roberts was a four-year member and two-time team captain of the Bridgewater State men’s soccer Team from 2008 to 2011.  He earned All-MASCAC honors as a midfielder for the Bears three years in a row and represented the men’s soccer team on BSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years.

A 2012 graduate of Bridgewater State, Roberts appeared in 70 games, including 69 starts, for the Bears during his four year collegiate career. He tallied three goals and eight assists for 14 points.

Roberts also has a great deal of club coaching experience and is currently affiliated with the FC Boston Bolts program.  He has prior experience as the Training Director for the Commonwealth Football Coach and as an Assistant Coach at Canton High School.  Roberts works full-time as a teacher in the Braintree Public Schools and resides in Quincy, MA.
