Conor Murtagh Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior forward Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.

The MASCAC Tournament MVP, Murtagh tallied three goals and four assists for 10 points to help lead the Bears to their fourth conference tournament title.

The Walpole, Massachusetts product assisted on a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in BSU's 3-2 quarterfinal win over Massachusetts Maritime. He also scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 2-0 semifinal round win over Westfield State. Murtagh capped off the tournament title run with two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in the Bears’ 3-2 championship game victory over Framingham State.

Through 21 games this season, Murtagh has 17 goals and eight assists for 42 points as he tied the Bears' single-season scoring mark set by David Son in 1991. Murtagh is also one shy of Son's single-season goal record of 18 also set in '91.

Murtagh is currently tied for the Division III lead in game-winning goals with eight, and is also tied for 14th in goals and tied for 15th in scoring.

In 59 games over four seasons with the Bears, Murtagh has amassed 31 goals and ten assists for 72 points. Of his 31 goals, 14 have been game-winners. Murtagh is currently second among the Bears' all-time leaders in goals and is third in points.
