Brendan Adams Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight season and fourth time in his career, Bridgewater State University head coach Brendan Adams has been named the MASCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

In 19 games this season, Adams has led his squad to an overall record of 15-3-1 with an impressive conference mark of 7-0. The 15 win total ties the single-season program mark set back in 1990 (15-4-1) and equaled in 1993 (15-4-1).

Seeded fifth in this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears posted a 3-2 double overtime win over Mass. Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening to advance to the semifinals. Bridgewater will square off with top-seeded Westfield State University on Friday night at Alumni Field in Westfield beginning at seven.

Under Adams' tutelage, eight players garnered All-MASCAC honors in 2015, including conference player of the year, Conor Murtagh.

In his 14 seasons as the BSU skipper, Adams' coaching record stands at 137-101-24 (.569) with an impressive conference regular season mark of 62-23-13 (.699).   During his tenure, the Bears have captured the MASCAC Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament on three occasions (2004, 2007, 2013).

The all-time winningest coach in BSU men's soccer history, Adams also garnered MASCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2003, 2009 and 2014.

Notes: Adams has coached 34 different All-MASCAC players including 26 first teamers and three conference players of the year. All told, 68 Bears have been listed on the All-MASCAC Team in his 14 seasons as the Bears' skipper.
