Conor Murtagh Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior forward Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week. Murtagh shares the weekly honor along with Worcester State University senior defender Kyle Venne.

A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Murtagh potted the game-winning goal in the Bears’ 1-0 shutout victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy this past weekend.

With the win, the Bears remain alone atop the MASCAC standings with a 4-1 conference mark.  The Bears (7-7) have a four point lead in the standings with just two MASCAC games remaining.

In 14 games this season, Murtagh has recorded five goals and an assist for  11 points.  He is tied for second in the conference in game-winning goals (2), tied for third in goals and tied for fifth in scoring.

In 33 games over his first three seasons at Bridgewater State, Murtagh has amassed nine goals and 19 points.  Five of his nine scoring strikes have been game-winners.

The regular season schedule resumes for the BSU men’s soccer team on Tuesday night when the Bears travel to UMass Dartmouth for a seven o’clock non-conference game with the Corsairs.
