BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior forward Conor Murtagh has been selected as the MASCAC Player of the Year to highlight the Bears' six representatives on the 2014 All-MASCAC Men's Soccer Team.

Joining Murtagh on the All-MASCAC First Team are teammates junior midfielder Kolin Campbell, junior defender Nicholas Keddie and sophomore defender Jonathan Pires.  Senior midfielder Steve McAvoy and junior defender Justin Kachadoorian were named to the second team.  Campbell and Keddie are both making their second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC squad.

A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Murtagh notched nine goals and two assists for 20 points during the regular season as he started all 17 games for the Bears.  He is currently tied for the MASCAC lead in goals, points and game-winning goals (3).

Murtagh is the fifth MASCAC Player of the Year in BSU men's soccer history joining Ryan Seifert (2008), Mike Quinn (2005), Bryan Medeiros (1997) and Nelson Almeda (1994).

Campbell and McAvoy  have started all 17 games this season in the midfield.  Campbell, who was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, has a goal and three assists for five points, while McAvoy checks in with a goal and four assists for six points.

Keddie, Pires and Kachadoorian anchor a defensive unit which has produced a team goals against average of 1.27 while limiting opponents to ten shots per game. Keddie has registered three assists in 16 starts, while Pires has a goal and four assists for six points in 17 starts. Kachadoorian, who missed four games due to injury, potted his first collegiate goal earlier this season in a 1-0 win over Plymouth State.

McAvoy and Pires are tied for the team lead and rank third in the MASCAC in assists, while Campbell and Keddie are tied for sixth in the conference in assists.

The BSU men's soccer team wrapped up regular season play with an overall mark of 9-7-1 including a 5-1-1 mark in MASCAC play.  The Bears captured the program's fourth conference regular season title and first since 2009.  The top seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears earned a first round bye and will host fifth-seeded MCLA in semifinal round action on Friday night at seven.
