Brendan Adams Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time in his career, Bridgewater State University head coach Brendan Adams has been named the MASCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Adams was selected for the honor by his coaching peers after guiding the Bears to the MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in this week's conference tournament.

In 17 games this season, Adams has led his squad to an overall record of 9-7-1 with an impressive conference mark of 5-1-1.  The Bears captured the MASCAC regular season crown for the fourth time in program history and first since the 2009 campaign.

After earning a first round bye, the Bears will host fifth-seeded MCLA in semifinal round action at Swenson Field on Friday night at seven.

Under Adams' tutelage, six players garnered All-MASCAC honors in 2014, including conference player of the year, Conor Murtagh.

In his 13 seasons as the BSU skipper, Adams' coaching record stands at 121-96-23 (.552) with an impressive conference regular season mark of 55-23-13 (.676).   During his tenure, the Bears have captured the MASCAC Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament on three occasions (2004, 2007, 2013).

The all-time winningest coach in BSU men's soccer history, Adams also garnered MASCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and again in 2009.

Notes: Adams has coached 31 different All-MASCAC players including 24 first teamers and three conference players of the year. All told, 60 Bears have been listed on the All-MASCAC Team in his 13 seasons as the Bears' skipper.
