Conor Murtagh Named ECAC Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. –Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.  Murtagh shares the weekly honor along with Ray Durski of Johnson & Wales University.

The MVP of the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Tournament, Murtagh netted a pair of game-winning goals in leading Bridgewater State to the tournament title last week.  The Walpole, Massachusetts native potted the winning tally in the 85th minute of the Bears’ 1-0 championship game victory over Worcester State and notched the game’s only goal in a 1-0 semifinal win over Framingham State.

In 14 games this season, Murtagh has notched four goals as he ranks third on the team in scoring with eight points.  Three of his four goals have been game-winners.

Earlier this week, Murtagh was chosen as the MASCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.

The BSU men’s soccer team is currently 10-7-3 on the season.  By virtue of their MASCAC Tournament title, the Bears will be making the program’s fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament and first since 2007.  Bridgewater will take on Amherst College in first round play on Saturday at 1:30 PM in Amherst, Massachusetts.
