Men's Soccer Plays to 0-0 Double Overtime Draw at Salem

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State and Bridgewater State played to a 0-0 tie in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's soccer regular season finale for both teams.

The Vikings now stand at 3-12-1 on the year and 2-4-1 in the MASCAC, while the Bears go to 7-7-3 overall and 3-1-3 in conference play.

In the first half, Bridgewater State controlled possession, outshooting Salem State 10-1, but they were not able to convert any of their chances into points. Craig Shadduck (Braintree, Mass.) nearly gave the Bears the lead, but his header hit off the right post, and Colby LeSage (Maynard, Mass.) had an open look off a corner, but his header was snared by Vikings' goalie Nondas Kargakis (Herkalion, Greece).

Bridgewater State continued dominating possession of the ball in Salem State's end in the second half. However, Kargakis came up with several key saves to keep the game scoreless and force an extra session. Neither team managed a quality chance in overtime, as both teams combined for just two shots in the extra periods.

Kargakis ended the game with seven saves while Matt Bagley (Braintree, MA) was not credited with a save in the shutout.

The Bears held a 15-3 advantage in shots, and took 18 corners compared to zero for the Vikings.

Both teams await seeding for the MASCAC Tournament which begins next Tuesday.
