WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Senior Jon Principato scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute to lead Westfield State University to a 1-0 MASCAC men's soccer victory over Bridgewater State on Saturday, Oct. 27.

It was the regular season finale for both teams.  Westfield finished third in the MASCAC standings with a 5-2 record (7-9-1 overall).  Bridgewater falls to 8-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play.

Principato scored off a rebound following senior Jared Spicer's free kick that deflected off the goalie.

For the game, both teams totaled 10 shots while Westfield led in corner kicks, 5-2.

Bridgewater goalie Mat Bagley recorded six saves and Westfield keeper Kris Carrington had four saves.

The Owls are the third seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Fitchburg State University in quarterfinal round play next Tuesday. The Bears are seeded fourth and will host number five seed Worcester State University also on Tuesday.  Game times have yet to be determined.
