NORTON, Mass. – Junior Will Nesbitt (Holliston, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to send the Wheaton College men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Bridgewater State University Thursday afternoon at a rainy Keefe Field.

Junior Federico Kelly (Hingham, Mass.) also scored for the Lyons, who have won four of their last five matches and climbed back over the .500 mark at 8-7-2. The loss drops the Bears to 5-7-3 overall.

Nesbitt gave the Lyons an early lead with his team-leading ninth goal of the season 5:21 into the match. Junior tri-captain Max Swanson (Lexington, Mass.) sent a pass through a pair of BSU defenders and allowed Nesbitt to walk in alone on the Bears' keeper for the goal.

Later in the half, Kelly knocked in a pass from Thomas along the left side of the field for his sixth marker of the season at 20:00. The half wrapped with the Lyons holding a 12-8 edge in shots.

Bridgewater State climbed back into the match with a goal midway through the second half, cutting its deficit to 2-1. Freshman Ramon Ambrosio (Canton, Mass.) let a shot go from a ways out that sophomore Colin Neri (Upton, Mass.) redirected with his head for his first goal of the season.

Less than 10 minutes later, Nesbitt answered with his 10th goal of the season to push the Lyons lead back to two goals. He made a run down the right side of the field, deked around the BSU goalkeeper, and let a shot go from a sharp angle that found its way into a vacated net.

Wheaton finished with a 21-14 edge in shots and a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Freshman Devin Delfino (Bourne, Mass.) finished with seven saves to earn his sixth win of the season. Bridgewater State junior goalkeeper Joe Parsons (Springfield, Mass.) played the first 45 minutes and recorded seven saves.  Senior DJ Siewierski (Stow, Mass.) came on to start the second half and turned aside three shots for the Bears.

The Lyons close out the regular season with a 1 p.m. match against MIT on Saturday. The Bears host MCLA Saturday at 2 p.m. in a key MASCAC contest.
