Zach Taylor Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Zach Taylor has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A product of Quincy, Massachusetts, Taylor averaged 17.5 points and 1.5 assists while shooting 65% (13-20) from the floor and 90% (9-10) at the free throw line in a perfect 2-0 MASCAC week for the Bears.

Taylor notched 15 points, one rebound, three assists and a steal in a 96-82 win on the road over Salem State University, and a career-high 20 points to go along with a rebound in a 109-86 victory over Framingham State University.

Through 14 games this season (all starts), Taylor is averaging 8.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 50% (51-102) from the floor and 81.8% (18-22) at the free throw line.

Taylor presently ranks seventh in the MASCAC in field goal percentage. He is the second Bear to earn conference rookie of the week accolades this season joining classmate and three-time honoree, Josh Campbell (Plymouth, Mass.). 

The BSU men's basketball team is currently 6-8 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain conference foe MCLA on Wednesday night at 7:30.
