Josh Campbell Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman forward Josh Campbell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Campbell averaged 9.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, one assist and one steal in two games for the Bears during the MASCAC Tournament. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product notched ten points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in a semifinal round win over Westfield State, and nine points, eight rebounds (three offensive), one assist and one steal in a championship game overtime setback to Worcester State.

In 24 games this season (15 starts), Campbell averaged 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 53.2% (118-222) from the floor, 39.6% (21-53) from behind the arc and 65.5% (38-58) at the free throw line.

Campbell, who also earned the honor on November 20th, December 11th and January 2nd, ranks fourth in the MASCAC in field goal percentage and tenth in made field goals.

The BSU men's basketball team wrapped up the 2023-2024 season with an overall record of 14-12 including a 9-3 mark in the MASCAC standings. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears posted an 83-74 semifinal round victory over the third-seeded Owls before dropping a heartbreaking 80-79 decision in overtime to the top-seeded Lancers in the conference championship game.
