Josh Campbell Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman forward Josh Campbell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Campbell averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals this past weekend at the Trinity Holiday Invitational while shooting 62.5% (15-24) from the floor.

Campbell scored 20 points and added six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in an 80-68 semifinal round win over FDU-Florham. He also tallied 18 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals in an 89-75 championship game setback to nationally ranked (#10) and tournament host Trinity College.

Through 12 games this season (all starts), Campbell is averaging 15.9 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 53.1% (76-143) from the floor, 40.5% (15-37) from behind the arc and 66.7% (24-36) at the free throw line.

Campbell, who also earned the honor on November 20th and December 11th, presently ranks third in the MASCAC in three-point shooting percentage and fourth in both scoring and field goal percentage.

The BSU men's basketball team is currently 4-8 on the season. The Bears open MASCAC play on Wednesday night when they travel to Salem State University for a seven o'clock game with the Vikings.
