Mass, Carty Named to All-MASCAC Men's Basketball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior guard Fawaz Mass and sophomore forward Joseph Carty have been voted by the league's coaches to the 2015-2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference Team.

Mass garnered first team honors while Carty was named to the second team. Both are making their first appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.

Through 25 games this season, Mass is averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The Taunton, Massachusetts product is also shooting 44% (135-305) from the floor and 70% (102-146) at the free throw line.

Mass currently ranks fifth in the MASCAC in scoring and made field goals, third in made free throws and 11th in rebounding.

In 51 games over his first two seasons at Bridgewater State, Mass has amassed 508 points, 174 rebounds, 49 assists, 17 blocked shots and 30 steals. He is a career 45% (176-395) shooter from the field and 71% (145-205) at the line.

Carty, who hails from Natick, Massachusetts, is averaging 12.1 points and 9.7 rebounds over 19 games in his first season with the Bears. He is also shooting 75% (81-108) at the charity stripe.

Carty presently ranks fourth among the MASCAC leaders in rebounding, eighth in free throw shooting and fifth in made free throws.

The BSU men's basketball team is currently 13-12 on the season. Seeded third in the MASCAC Tournament with an 8-4 conference record, the Bears posted a 60-51 opening round win over #6 Framingham State University on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinal round. Bridgewater will take on second-seeded Salem State University on Thursday night at seven.
