BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- On Saturday, April 12th, our very own men's basketball coach, Joe Farroba, was inducted into the McGill University Basketball Wall of Honour at the annual "Friends of McGill Basketball Awards Gala" held at the Holiday Inn Midtown Hotel in Montreal.

Coach Farroba competed on the McGill men's basketball team during the 1976-1977 campaign after spending four season seasons at Boston State University.  Farroba helped the Redmen capture the Quebec Universities Athletic Association (QUAA) Championship, a No. 1 national ranking and a berth at the national championship.

Farroba, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound forward from Provincetown, Mass., averaged an impressive 20 points per outing while shooting 52 per cent from the field and 71 per cent from the line in his only season at McGill.  For his outstanding play, Farroba was named as a First Team selection on the 1976-1977 Canadien Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) All-Candien Team.

Fast forward to the future, Joe Farroba brought his talent and knowledge for the game to Bridgewater State University where the men's basketball team is known for their great accomplishments in MASCAC play. A four-time MASCAC Coach of the Year (1997-98, 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2011-12), Farroba has guided the Bears to six MASCAC Tournament titles (1999, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014) and a pair of conference regular season crowns (2008-09, 2009-10).

Bridgewater has reached postseason play nine times under Farroba's tutelage including NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in 1999, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014.  In 2009, the Bears advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after a stunning second round victory at Middlebury College.

Congratulations, Coach Farroba, on your induction!
