Corey Ryser Named to Capital One Academic All-District One Men's Basketball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior guard Corey Ryser has been selected to the 2011-2012 Capital One Division III Academic All-District One Men’s Basketball First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ryster will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Ryser sports an impressive 3.86 grade point average while majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing as well as a minor in Public Relations.  He has earned Dean’s List honors in each of his first seven semesters at BSU.

As a shooting guard on the Bears’ men’s basketball team, Ryser is averaging 13.5 points while shooting 49% (100-206) from the floor, 39% (25-65) from three-point land and 86% (31-36) at the free throw line in this his senior season.

The BSU men’s basketball team is currently 11-8 on the year and tied for first place in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) standings with a 6-2 MASCAC mark. Ryser ranks among the top ten in the conference in scoring, field goal percentage, three-point shooting, made three-pointers and minutes played.

In 100 games over four seasons with the Bears, Ryser has accumulated 614 points to go along with 115 assists.  He is a career 47% (242-517) shooter, including a 39% (78-202) clip from behind the arc.  Ryser has also connected on 78% (52-67) of his free throw attempts.

A native of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Ryser played scholastically at Malden Catholic High School.  He is the son of Thomas and Patricia Ryser.
