CLINTON, N.Y. -- Corey Ryser led all scorers with 28 points to power Bridgewater State University to an 85-68 victory over SUNY Institute of Technology in the consolation game of the Hamilton Tip-Off Tournament at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Nov. 19.
Samuel Johnson added 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and a game-high three blocks. Nathan Miller chipped in 14 points.
T'Andre Richardson led SUNYIT with 20 points and seven rebounds. Derek Rowe recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Yhashin White dished out a game-high seven assists.
Bridgewater State (2-1) raced out to a 16-6 lead just over six minutes in, and led by as many as 16 points midway through the half. SUNYIT battled back to within five points at 38-33 at the half.
Bridgewater State opened the second half with a 12-5 run to make it 50-38, and SUNYIT (0-2) didn't get closer than six points the rest of the way. The Bears shot 50 percent from the field and went 20-for-22 (91 percent) at the free-throw line after the break to seal the victory.
Host Hamilton College captured the tournament championship later in the day with a 60-58 victory over Clark University.
