Men's Basketball Posts Fifth Straight Win

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in MASCAC play as the Bears downed the host Falcons of Fitchburg State College, 68-59, this afternoon in Fitchburg.

The Bears have won five straight games as they are now 8-5 overall on the season.  Fitchburg drops to 4-10 on the season and 0-2 in MASCAC

Bridgewater State received double-digit scoring efforts from junior forward Judah Jackson (Everett, MA), sophomore forward Nicholas Motta (Fairhaven, MA) and sophomore guard Nathan Miller (New Bedford, MA). Jackson led all Bears' scorers with a team-best 17 points to go along with eight rebounds, while Motta and Miller added 12 points and ten points respectively.

Fitchburg State senior Colin London (Worcester, MA) netted a game-high 22 points to lead the Falcons. London nearly collected a double-double for Fitchburg State adding eight boards and four assists to his 9-of-17 shooting performance.

Fitchburg State held a slim two point advantage at the break led by London's seven first-half points, but Bridgewater State opened things up midway through the second period, using an 8-0 run at the 5:12 mark to gain a nine point advantage (55-46). Jackson led the Bears second half charge with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, while Motta added nine points and five boards.

The Bears capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 14-of-17 attempts throughout the contest, while Fitchburg State struggled with 5-of-14 shooting from the charity stripe.
