Men's Hoops Falls to Farmingdale State in Sectional Semifinal

POMONA, N.J. -- The Bridgewater State College men's basketball team saw its run in the NCAA Division III Tournament come to an end as the Bears dropped an 84-64 decision to Farmingdale State in the sectional semifinals.

The Bears (22-7) finish the 2008-2009 campaign with a school-record 22 wins.  BSC's Sweet Sixteen appearance was also the first in program history.

Senior center Roland Millien (Stoughton, MA) paced the Bears with a team-high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Millien's double-double was his 13th of the season, and he finished his career with 1,160 points which ranks him 18th all-time among BSC's career scoring leaders.

Farmingdale State jumped out to an early 20-9 lead in the first nine minutes of the game as Damien Santana (Brooklyn, NY) made 3-of-4 shots including two three-pointers.  The Rams would continue to lead throughout the entire first half, taking a 38-33 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, a 17-5 Farmingdale spurt in the first seven minutes extended the lead to 55-37.  From that point on, Farmingdale's lead would not shrink below double-digits as the Rams cruised into Elite Eight history. 

Sophomore guard Judah Jackson (Everett, MA) added 16 points, three rebounds and three steals for the Bears, while senior forward Stace Garrick (West Warwick, RI) came off the bench to score ten points.

Sophomore forward Nicholas Motta (Fairhaven, MA) chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds and six steals.  Motta finished the 2008-2009 season as the MASCAC leader in steals with 72. 

Farmingdale will face the winner of Richard Stockton and St. Lawrence on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Stockton Sports Center
