A native of Scituate, Rhode Island, Rene is in his 17th consecutive season (20th overall) on the Bears' coaching staff as he also was an assistant coach for three years from 1998 to 2000. Rene served as the team's offensive line and tight ends coach before moving into his role as offensive coordinator prior to the 2011 campaign.
A 1998 graduate of Bridgewater State, Rene played center on the offensive line for the Bears for two seasons and was captain of the team in 1997. He currently owns and operates Next Level Fitness Center in Johnston, Rhode Island. Rene also serves as a strength and conditioning coach at BSU.
