Stefano D'Emilia Named MASCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior quarterback Stefano D’Emilia has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Football Offensive Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

D’Emilia completed 19-of 26 pass attempts (73.1%) for 232 yards and three touchdowns in the Bears’ 34-19 New England Bowl win over Salve Regina University. The Bridgewater, Massachusetts product connected on scoring strikes of 1, 12 and 44 yards. He also rushed for 24 yards on eight carries.

In 11 games this season, D’Emilia completed 174 of 290 pass attempts for 2,046 yards and 17 touchdowns with just seven interceptions and a QB efficiency rating of 133.78. He has also rushed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

D’Emilia set the Bears’ single-season record for completion percentage (60.0%) in 2018 and became just the fifth quarterback in BSU football history to throw for 2,000 yards in a season.

D'Emilia led the MASCAC in completion percentage in 2018 and ranked second in completions, third in pass efficiency rating, and fourth in both passing yards and touchdowns.

In 23 games over his first three seasons at Bridgewater State, D’Emilia has thrown for 3,758 yards and 30 touchdowns. He currently ranks second all-time at Bridgewater State in completion percentage (53.6%), fourth in completions (315), sixth in passing yards and is tied for fifth in passing touchdowns.

The BSU football team wrapped up the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 8-3. The Bears tied for second in the MASCAC standings with a 6-2 conference mark.
