BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior placekicker Russell Bolarinho has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Bolarinho booted a 26-yard field goal and converted all three of his point after tries in the Bears’ 24-22 MASCAC win on the road over UMass Dartmouth. The Acushnet, Massachusetts product also averaged 49.6 yards on five kickoffs.

In six games this season, Bolarinho has made 13 of 16 PATs and is 1-for-3 in field goal attempts. He is averaging 50.7 yards on 29 kickoffs with one touchback. Opponents are also averaging just 18.4 yards on 28 kickoff returns.

In two seasons with the Bears, Bolarinho has converted 41 of 50 point after tries and is 3-for-6 in field goal attempts.

The BSU football team is currently 2-5 on the season and 2-3 in the MASCAC. The Bears host Western Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM as part of Homecoming Weekend.
