Bridgewater State Earns MASCAC Football Play of the Week Honor

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University football team garnered the most votes in the MASCAC Football Play of the Week poll for week ten of the season.

The Bears ended up with 48 percent of the votes, fending off Plymouth State who was close behind in second place with 34 percent. Framingham State and Worcester State joined the two squads as nominees for this week's poll.

In the week ten winning play, Bridgewater State junior back Malik Garrett took the snap at quarterback and scampered down the field for a 50-yard touchdown run.

The touchdown came during the Bears' MASCAC clinching 28-27 overtime win over defending champion Framingham State University this past weekend.

Garrett rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries and hauled in four receptions for 70 yards and another score in the win over the Rams.

Along with his 50-yard TD run, Garrett also hauled in a 24-yard touchdown reception and tied the game at 27-all with a one-yard touchdown run in overtime. The Bears would go on to win the game with the ensuing PAT.

For his performance, Garrett was named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
