2015 D3football.com All-East Region Team (PDF)
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior defensive tackle Elvis Romero has been selected to the 2015 D3football.com All-East Region Second Team.
This marks the fourth straight season that the Bears have had a player named to the All-East Region Team and the 14th time since 2005.
In 11 games this season, Romero accumulated a career-high 58 tackles (36 solo) including 14 tackles for loss and six sacks to go along with a forced fumble. The Wayne, New Jersey product finished tied for fifth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in both tackles for loss and sacks.
In 30 games over his first three seasons with the Bears, Romero has amassed 107 tackles with 76 solo stops. He also has 27 1/2 tackles for loss and 13 1/2 sacks to his credit as well as two forced and two recovered fumbles.
The 2015 BSU football team posted an overall record of 7-4 and finished tied for second in the MASCAC standings with a 6-2 conference mark. The Bears made the program's tenth postseason appearance, and first since 2012, falling to Carnegie Mellon University in the ECAC Legacy Bowl, 48-13.
Romero was one of six MASCAC student-athletes named to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team which was announced at the end of November. He was also one of ten Bears named to the All-MASCAC Team as he garnered first team honors.
