Dillon Huber-Parker Named ECAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior strong safety Dillon Huber-Parker has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Huber-Parker forced three turnovers and recorded 11 solo tackles, including two for loss, in the Bears' 45-20 Cranberry Bowl victory at Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday.  The Longmont, Colorado native forced a fumble and recorded a pair of interceptions in the win.  The Bears capitalized on his first quarter interception, marching 72 yards on 11 plays on the ensuing drive to take a 14-0 lead.

The BSU defense held Mass. Maritime to just 20 points and 126 rushing yards on the day.  Mass. Maritime entered the game averaging 36.6 points per game and 229.3 yards on the ground. 

In ten games this season, Huber-Parker recorded a team-leading 58 tackles (48 solo), six interceptions and nine passes defended.  He is tied for the MASCAC lead in interceptions and is tied for 11th in the conference in solo tackles.

In 30 games over three seasons with the Bears, Huber-Parker amassed 157 tackles (128 solo), 15.5 tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, 18 passes defended and two forced fumbles. His six interceptions this season marked a career-high.

The 2013 BSU football team posted a 6-4 record in the inaugural Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football season, capped off by the victory over Mass. Maritime in the 35th Annual Cranberry Bowl.  The Bears finished tied for third in the conference standings with a 5-3 league mark.

Earlier this week, Huber-Parker was selected as the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
